Experience

Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer · PiinPoint

Jan 2023 - Present

Ontario, Canada · Remote · Location intelligence platform

Stack: TypeScript, React, Redux, Python, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MapLibre, Stripe

  • Rebuilt an LCBO-only reporting system into a reusable platform with per-client layouts, content and styling, letting PiinPoint sell custom report packages to new clients, including Sobeys.
  • Designed and built the TradeArea Editor and re-architected trade-area models and data to support unlimited primary and secondary trade areas, including support for multi-polygons and multi-shapes per segment.
  • Planned and built Sitematch, an Excel replacement for curating real-estate listings with built-in statistics, demographics and analysis, implemented with Tabulator.
  • Grew Sitematch to about a dozen enterprise teams, credited with helping land clients, and added a self-serve Stripe tier for small businesses.
  • Built an AI-powered Submission Portal that parses broker PDFs, emails and screenshots into structured listings matched to each organization's fields. Introduced FastAPI and Langfuse to the stack.
  • Designed and built the mobile optimization project, replacing an unusable mobile experience with device detection, a desktop/mobile override and reusable utilities.
  • Led the migration from Reflux to Redux in a React 15.6 codebase, touching every file, and built a shared utility layer that made Redux simpler to use across the whole app.
  • Led the migration from Leaflet to MapLibre, with a complete webpack overhaul and the foundations of a design system.
  • Led the migration to a React 19 + shadcn/ui design system.
  • Authored repo-wide code standards, including in-repo guidance for developers and AI agents.

Developer · Shopify

Aug 2019 - Dec 2022

Chatham, Ontario

Stack: React, TypeScript, Ruby on Rails, Google Apps Script

  • Designed and built AuditCreator as head developer, an internal tool that Shopify's Storefront Optimization team (~9 users) used to audit prospective enterprise clients' storefronts in sales engagements.
  • Replaced a manual Google Docs and spreadsheets workflow with a curated, data-backed library of UI/UX recommendations that auditors tailor to each storefront.
  • Standardized audit quality and structure while preserving each auditor's own voice.
  • Added usage tracking that surfaced one auditor's high-quality edits to the rest of the team.
  • Credited with helping land several of those enterprise clients.
